" Been looking at your Matterhorn again ? "

It was July 1865 and the party attempting the Hörnli Ridge was making the last preparations in Zermatt before setting foot on Matterhorn.
Another party was already on it's way to the top of the most recognizable peak of Europe, attempting the South-West side starting from Breuil-Cervinia and following the Lion's Ridge or Cresta del Leone.

The story behind the ascent of Matterhorn is fascinating as it marks the end of the Golden Era of Alpinism. The concept of modern mountaineering was a generation breakthrough: forward-thinking mountain guides were engaged by English gentlemen traveling the world. By joining forces, they attempted and conquered symbolic peaks of the alpine territory.
The Aiguille Verte, the Matterhorn, and the Brenva face of Mont Blanc were climbed, creating at the time a flux so strong that established most of the Alpine Clubs in Europe.

Even if the Âge d' Or is way behind us, the beautiful Ridges to the top of Matterhorn are still a perfect goal for a summer in the Alps.
We offer 2 to 6 days plans of alpine training and summiting Matterhorn and organize the ascent based on your personal wishes and needs.
